The other form of NRT is the nicotine patch. Patches are tiny sticky plasters that are stuck to the skin. It releases nicotine gradually through the skin into the bloodstream. The nicotine contained in these patches is clean as it does not contain harmful toxics like the one in cigarettes. While using other NRTs like the gum you take in quit a high level of nicotine at a time but by using the patch nicotine goes in at a steady rate and thus help you to eventually quit. This makes nicotine patches the king of NRT. These patches are also available in different strengths like strong ones and mild ones depending on ones needs. The patch can be used for time span of 16 to 24 hours. But preferably it should be avoided at night as it may affect the sleep.
